“The consequences that an accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP could cause are life-threatening and could also lead to a nuclear disaster. At the same time, radioactively contaminated air masses could pose a danger not only to Ukraine but also to Europe and even Asia.”
MPs of the Verkhovna Rada reminded us that the ZNNP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and the third in the world, has 6 power units, and this is 40% of all nuclear reactors in Ukraine.
“Radioactive pollution can cause irreparable damage to the environment, nature, and human life and health. Increased doses of radiation lead to an increase in the cancer morbidity rate in humans, pathologies in newborn babies, and genetic mutations.”
At the same time, it is emphasized that since the capture by Russian troops, the situation in the region where the ZNPP is located is becoming more and more dangerous every day.
On 11 August, Russian forces fired at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the adjacent territory four times.
