On January 9, 2023, it became known that the L3Harris Technologies company will manufacture 14 VAMPIRE modular missile systems for Ukraine, the first 4 missile systems are to be delivered by mid-2023.

The US Ministry of Defense signed a contract for the production of modular missile systems with L3harris Technologies. The amount of the contract is 40 million dollars.
The manufacturer’s press release states that they must install VAMPIRE on vehicles provided by the US government. At the same time, it is stated that all 14 systems must be delivered by the end of 2023.
“The portable VAMPIRE kit will allow Ukraine ground forces to target and shoot down enemy drones and defend against adversary ground threats. The systems ordered by DoD are tailored to provide critical defense assets to help Ukraine protect against attacks on civilian infrastructure,” explained L3Harris Technologies.
In addition, it is stated that the VAMPIRE complexes will be equipped with an advanced WESCAM MX-10 RSTA targeting sensor, as well as Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System missiles, which will allow to quickly and accurately shoot down targets.

They are much lighter and more mobile than other air defense systems, and they can be installed even on a regular pickup truck.
