“Regarding the need for temporary housing, almost 800,000 citizens of Ukraine have lost their homes. Modular housing, like the rest of the construction, is handled by the Ministry of Regions, which have programs with appropriate money for this. As you know, there are programs together with the Polish government, and other governments that provided Ukraine with the first modular towns, but it’s not enough,” said Vereshchuk.

She noted that she had seen an example in the Chernihiv region when people did not want to live in modular towns because they lived in their own private buildings. As they say, they want “at least one room, but in their garden.” But it will not be possible to ensure this yet.

“The fact that housing will not be built in sufficient quantity this year must already be said. The fact that people will move and the heating season will be difficult is also true. But what we are dealing with, for example, housing, insulation, reconstruction, replacing boilers, we are doing everything to ensure that people who have moved have a place to live and a place to spend the winter.”

Vereshchuk announced a forecast that about half a million more people will move from east to west of Ukraine in the autumn period, which will put an additional burden on those who have already left earlier.
