“It is impossible to accurately calculate the amount of atmospheric pollution from burned oil depots and other fires. And also – blown up buildings, burned chemical plants, and many burials of killed animals. Just imagine this: 6 million domestic animals died as a result of Russian aggression. 6 million! These are official data. At least 50,000 dolphins have been destroyed in the Black Sea. Thousands of hectares of soil are contaminated with harmful substances. Most of them are fertile soils. There were fertile soils,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that millions of hectares of forest have been burned by shelling, and almost 200,000 hectares of Ukrainian land are contaminated by mines and unexploded shells of Russian troops. Dozens of coal mines are flooded.
In addition, the President of Ukraine said that last week he proposed to create a platform for assessing the damage to the environment from the war at the climate summit in Egypt, and it is necessary to implement it.
