“As for employment, now we have 430,000 Ukrainian people working under this new formula, where the employer only informs the regional labor service that this person has joined us.”

According to the Polish official, more than 1.3 million Ukrainians have already received the PESEL number in Poland. This enables citizens of Ukraine to enjoy the same rights in the social sphere as citizens of Poland.

The norm on the need to obtain a PESEL number is stipulated by the law on assistance to citizens of Ukraine in connection with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, which introduced a special mechanism for legalizing the stay of Ukrainians on the territory of Poland during the war in Ukraine.

As reported, more than 5.8 million people left Ukraine for Poland, and almost 4 million left in the opposite direction as of the end of August, from February 24.
