Ukraine’s Ambassador to Sweden, said on August 12, 2022, that the Swedish government has voted to allocate additional funds for the social welfare of Ukrainian refugees, taking into account that 42,000 Ukrainian refugees have already registered in Sweden.

According to him, 42,000 Ukrainians, including 13,000 children, received the status of temporarily displaced persons in Sweden. The Swedish government helps refugees to get a job, children to master school programs, and pays financial aid. Citizens of Ukraine have access to medical care in the country.
“According to Swedish law, children should study only according to the Swedish curriculum. Swedish companies, volunteers, and local authorities do a lot, they organize many summer camps for our children so that they can have a good rest and go to schools,” said Plahotniuk.
The Swedish government has foreseen changes to the budget in the amount of 10 billion kroner to address the urgent needs of Ukrainians temporarily living in the country.
“To date, the total amount of assistance that has been provided to Ukraine is 4.2 billion of Swedish kronor, which is approximately EUR 395 million.”
