According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kosin, the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, is a continuation of the war that the Russian Federation has been waging against Ukraine since 2014. The events of 2014-2022 are the basis of the first part of Ukrainian lawsuits in the European Court of Human Rights and the UN International Court of Justice.

“Killing of the civilian population of Ukraine is a deliberate strategy of the Russian Federation. It includes murder, torture, and sexual violence committed against those who identify themselves as Ukrainian, as well as deportation of children, shelling of critical infrastructure and other war crimes,” explained the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

So far, 260 Russian servicemen have been notified of suspicion, 92 have been indicted, and 25 have been convicted. Discussions are ongoing regarding the format of a special tribunal for the leadership of the Russian Federation.
