14,532 people are among victims in Ukraine due to Russia’s war, – UN

Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights reported about 14,532 victims among the civilian population of Ukraine as a result of the invasion of Russia as of September 18, 2022. These are 5,916 dead and 8,616 injured.

According to the UN, among those killed by the Russians – are 2,306 men, 1,582 women, 156 girls and 188 boys, as well as 35 children and 1,649 adults, whose gender is still unknown.

Among the injured are 1,810 men, 1,327 women, 187 girls and 259 boys, as well as 217 children and 4,816 adults, whose gender is still unknown.

“Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a wide area effects, including shelling from heavy artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, missiles and air strikes.”

The UN believes that the given figures are much higher, because receiving information from places where intense hostilities are ongoing has been delayed, and many reports are still awaiting confirmation.

“This concerns, for example, Mariupol (Donetsk region), Izium (Kharkiv region), Lysychansk, Popasna, and Sievierodonetsk (Luhansk region), where there are allegations of numerous civilian casualties.”
