Ukrtransgaz: the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom continues to violate conditions of gas transit contract

Gazprom continues to violate conditions of gas transit contract – UkrtransgazThe Ukrainian company intends to publish information about the pressure at the entrance to Ukraine`s gas transportation systems each Tuesday in order to inform its European partners and the public.

The Russian gas monopoly Gazprom continues to violate the terms of the contract to ensure the gas pressure in the Ukrainian gas transportation system, according to the Ukrainian GTS operator Ukrtransgaz.

”In November, out of 30 days, contractual pressure at the gas metering station (GMS) Pisarevka was maintained for only 12 days, and at GMS Sudzha, it has consistently been below the contractual conditions,” Ukrtransgaz press service reported.

In the first ten days of December, the pressure at the GMS Sudzha was never maintained properly, while at the GMS Pisarevka it corresponds to the contractual terms.

It is noted that the company intends to publish weekly, each Tuesday, information about the pressure at the entrance to Ukraine`s GTS to inform its European partners and the public.

The company emphasizes full implementation by Ukraine of transit applications for the transportation of natural gas to European consumers.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Naftogaz had previously reported the systematic violations by Gazprom of transit conditions of the contract to ensure the minimum pressure of gas at the inlet of the Ukrainian GTS.

Naftogaz assumed that Gazprom was unable to maintain a stable pressure in the system at the required level due to the poor state of the Russian gas transportation infrastructure.

The company noted that since 2011, the Russian side has ceased publishing data on the number of accidents at conventional pipelines, and at the same time paid much attention to the construction of new gas pipelines. Analysis of the situation is complicated by the absence of Russia`s explanations about the non-compliance with the contractual requirements.

Transit of natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system has increased by 22% in January-November 2016 compared to the same period last year – to 73.5 billion cubic meters.

According to the transit contract between Ukraine and Russia, Gazprom is obliged to pump through Ukraine no less than 110 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.
