The Ukrainian side will begin a gradual withdrawal of heavy equipment from the ATO area of Donbas only after complete cessation of shelling by militants at least for 24 hours.
Deputy Head of the NSDC Information-Analytical Center Volodymyr Polievy told a briefing on Saturday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian side agreed on its dividing line between the parties. These proposals are passed to the Russian side, and then the Russians carry out contacts with illegal armed groups. Hence, there is some delay. This does not mean that the Ukrainian side fails to fulfil the agreement and withdraw heavy weapons, as required by the first stage. But the first step that would allow the Ukrainian side to do it is the establishment of a “regime of silence” – 24 hours of the “regime of silence” will mean the beginning of the withdrawal and proper establishment of the boundary line,” he said .
Polievy informed that a working group of the JointCenter for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire, which consists of representatives of the Ukrainian side, the OSCE monitoring group and the Russian military, continues to work. In particular, Russian representatives, headed by Deputy Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Alexander Lentsov, are now in Donetsk.
“Until 1:00 a.m., a meeting was held there with representatives of illegal armed formations on a regime of silence. Currently, we do not know the results of this meeting,” he said.
