The International Monetary Fund, which previously postponed its Executive Board meeting on the allocation of another $1 billion bailout tranche for Ukraine, will consider the issue of continuing cooperation with Kyiv as early as April 3, according to Jerome Vacher, IMF`s Resident Representative in Ukraine.
The consideration by the IMF Executive Board of the third revision of the Extended Fund Facility for Ukraine along with the results of the 2016 consultations on Article IV of the IMF agreements is scheduled for April 3, 2017, Vacher said in a statement.
As UNIAN reported, IMF spokesman Gerry Rice on March 23 said there was nothing ”unusual” in postponing a March 20 meeting of the IMF Executive Board due to the need to specify certain details of the cooperation program, and assured reporters that the Fund intended to schedule such meeting soon.
Ukraine`s finance ministry said in a statement that the IMF Executives Board meeting ”was postponed solely due to the need to assess economic implications arising from measures taken by Ukraine in response to the [coal] blockade and the seizure of Ukrainian enterprises in uncontrolled territory in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and in connection with the recognition by the Russian side of documents issued [by the de-facto authorities] in the territory.”
