Ukrainian Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko has said Ukraine expects the International Court of Justice to prohibit Russia from financing terrorism in eastern Ukraine, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
”It will be interesting and challenging hearing. But I am sure that we have a very strong position, the truth will see triumph and we will win,” he told journalists after a cabinet meeting.
”Ukraine will be represented by a group of experts, and we will discuss the violations of the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination; it is about the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian citizens in Crimea and Donbas and banning the financing of terrorism,” he added.
”We raise the issue of the introduction of the previous court decision, which would ban Russia from their actions on supporting the financing of terrorism,” Petrenko said.
Earlier, on February 24, Ukrainian President signed a decree on the establishment of the Ukrainian delegation to participate in the International Court of Justice`s proceedings into the violation by Russia of the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism and the International Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Racial Discrimination.

On January 16, Ukraine lodged a lawsuit against Russia with the International Criminal Court.
The lawsuit was filed under the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism and the International Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
The Ukrainian side states that the Russian Federation has been violating the Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism by providing weapons and other support to illegal armed groups who have committed a number of terrorist acts in Ukraine.
Ukraine also claims that Russia violates the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, by taking part in the discrimination campaign against non-Russian communities living in the occupied Crimea – in particular, ethnic Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.
Ukraine appealed to the ICJ with a request to introduce provisional measures to prevent the continuation of human rights violations by Russia`s for the term of the consideration of the case in court.
On March 6-9, the Peace Palace in The Hague will host public hearings over Ukraine`s request for the introduction of provisional measures.
