Real wages in Ukraine in January 2017 were 8.3% lower than in December 2016, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported.
At the same time, compared with January 2016, real wages in January 2017 grew by 21.4%.
The average monthly nominal wage of a full-time employee in Ukraine in January 2017 decreased by 7.2% compared with December 2016, amounting to UAH 6,008. The figure is 1.9 times higher than the level of the minimum wage in Ukraine, which in January 2017 amounted to UAH 3,200.
The State Statistics Service noted that in comparison with January 2016, the average nominal wage in January 2017 increased by 37.7%.
The highest average wages in January 2017 were recorded in air transportation services (UAH 27,252), financial and insurance sectors (UAH 11,092), and information and telecommunications sectors (UAH 10,210).
The lowest level of the average salary in January was recorded in postal and courier services (UAH 3,328).
The data are presented excluding the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation.
Earlier, real wages in Ukraine in December 2016 were 11.6% higher than in December 2015, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported. The average monthly nominal wage of a full-time employee in Ukraine in December 2016 increased by 19.8% compared with November, amounting to UAH 6,475.
