World Congress of the Crimean Tatars (WCCT) has sent an appeal to three hundred various government agencies around the world to recognize the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944 as genocide.
“Mass deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944 with the purpose of the complete destruction of this people was classified as a crime in WCCT appeal. In accordance with international law, such crimes considered genocide. Thus, the Congress calls on the government bodies appealed to recognize the events of 1944 genocide,” reports WCCT.
Mass deportation of Tatars from Crimea in 1944 is the historical tragedy when more than 240,000 people were deported from Crimea under Joseph Stalin`s rule, thousands have died.The document covers the events of the Deportation of 1944 and all the inhuman crimes of the Soviet regime against the Crimean Tatar people, as well as draws attention to the current situation of the Crimean Tatars.

The WCCT appeal was sent to about three hundred government bodies in Europe, America, Latin America, Africa and the Member States of Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization at the United Nations.
“Earlier, November 12, 2015 Ukraine recognized the deportation of the Crimean Tatars of May 18, 1944 as genocide,” mentions the WCCT appeal.
In 1944 Crimea was a part of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Russia has full legal responsibility for deportation as the successor of Soviet Union and Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.
