Italy`s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano has announced his country has decided to give Ukraine EUR 1 million in emergency contribution through the World Food Programme and UNICEF.
”Italy has approved an emergency contribution of EUR 1 million, divided into two funding packages: an initial EUR 700,000 for the World Food Programme (WFP) to distribute food rations and cash aid to the most vulnerable civilian population, in order to lessen the human impact of the conflict taking place in eastern Ukraine,” he said on Tuesday, December 20.
An additional amount of EUR 300,000 will be paid to UNICEF to fund a humanitarian landmine clearance project.
”The Italian funding will allow risk awareness courses to be provided for school and pre-school children living in areas where there are landmines, explosive remnants of war and improvised explosive devices,” he said in a statement posted on the ministry`s official website.
