A high-speed Intercity+ train will be launched between Kyiv, Lviv and Poland`s Przemysl from December 23, 2016, according to Ukraine`s Ukrzaliznytsia CEO.
”I confirm that in two weeks, starting from December 23, we`re planning to launch a high-speed Intercity+ train on the Kyiv-Lviv-Przemysl route. It will run daily the year around. The train will depart from Kyiv at about 07:00 local time and reach Poland in 6.5 hours. Almost straight away – a return trip. It is planned that customs control will be during the movement of the train,” Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Wojciech Balczun wrote on Facebook on December 9.
However, he did not elaborate on the fare.
”At the moment, we`re making arrangements to introduce discounts to be competitive to road transport. As soon as we reach result, we will announce the price and start selling tickets,” he wrote.
”That will be a good present to our and Polish passengers for the Christmas,” he added.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrzalizntsia introduced a new schedule for the 2016/2017 season from December 11. It includes 193 pairs of long-haul passenger trains. Of them, there are 107 pairs of trains that run the year around, which is 10% up on the 2015/2016 season.
