Ukrainian Deputy Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and Ukraine`s Trade Representative Nataliya Mykolska says Kenya has shown interest in Ukrainian industrial equipment, including turbines, motors, and transformers.
”Kenya interested in Ukrainian exports, namely of turbines, motors, pipes, transformers, PV and hydropower [equipment]. Kenya has sent a request for a sectorial business mission from Ukraine. We`ll publish programs/request soon,” she wrote on Twitter.
In her words, Kenya`s energy ministry is interested in Ukrainian engineering solutions, drilling services and the construction of power generation plants, including hydropower ones.
As UNIAN reported, Ukraine`s Economic Development and Trade Ministry on December 3 sent a trade mission for holding talks with the authorities of Kenya and Tanzania. Ukraine and Kenya has already agreed to boost trade and investment in agriculture.
The Kenya-Ukraine business forum was held in Nairobi on December 6. Over 60 participants representing 30 companies took part in the event.
According to the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Kenya is Ukraine`s largest trade partner in eastern Africa.
Exports to Kenya in 2014 were estimated at $127.9 million, they fell by 61% in 2015, to $49.9 million. The key export oriented commodities were grain (47% of total exports to that country), mineral fertilizers (23%) and ferrous metals (22%). Exports to Kenya in the nine months of 2016 were estimated at $26.3 million.
Farm produce shipments to Kenya in the nine months of 2016 totaled $22.8 million, while chemicals supplies were estimated at $3.4 million.
Mykolska is leading a Ukrainian trade mission to Kenya and Tanzania on December 3-10.
