Ukraine publishes Russia`s letter against missile tests near Crimea

A letter handed over by the Russian side to Ukraine`s military envoy in protest at missile tests near Crimea has been shared with the public.

The letter addressing the military attach? under Ukraine`s Embassy in Russia was published by the Ukrayinska Pravda news outlet.

”The Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation warns that if launched missiles are spotted in the said area, they will be destroyed by the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” the letter reads.

”If the launched missiles pose a threat to Russian facilities located in this area of the Russian Federation`s territory (the ground, the sea and airspace), a response strike will be carried out to destroy the launchers,” the Russian Defense Ministry warned.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine plans to start two-day missile tests in the south of Ukraine close to the Russia-occupied Crimea on December 1 – a move that has angered Russia and made it put its air defense forces on high alert on the Crimea peninsula.

Secretary of Ukraine`s National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov asked Russia not to get into a panic about the missile tests. He assured that the drills would be conducted within the framework of international obligations and treaties.

Later Ukrainian military officials announced that guided medium-range surface-to-air missiles would be tested and the drills would involve crews of combat aviation, transport aviation, surface-to-air missile troops units, radio-technical troops and communications, and also drones.
