Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko considers today`s upcoming questioning of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych via a video conference another PR-action on ”illegitimate Kyiv junta” on the anniversary of Euromaidan.
”We should not expect anything really important from Yanukovych`s questioning in a court hearing. Firstly, this interrogation was initiated by lawyers of former Berkut riot police officers, suspected of the Maidan shootings. Secondly, the Russian court put the condition to conduct questioning via Skype at the end of November. Thirdly, all the Kremlin media machine has been brought to Rostov,” Lutsenko wrote on Facebook.
”Therefore, I personally consider this event as another PR-move to claim ”illegitimate Kyiv junta” on the anniversary of Euromaidan,” he said.
At the same time, Lutsenko said: ”All this means that the Kremlin patrons of a bloody dictator understood: the PGO is coming to a finish line to begin trials against Yanukovych`s organized criminal group. And this is his last chance to speak as a witness.”
As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 25, the Sviatoshynskiy District Court of Kyiv will hold a hearing in the case of the Maidan events, with plans announced to question as a witness Ukraine`s disgraced ex-president Viktor Yanukovych via video conference.
The questioning of Viktor Yanukovych is scheduled for 13:00 Kyiv time.
