Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held telephone consultations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Ukrainian leader’s press service has reported.
He informed the chancellor about the deteriorating situation in the Donbas.
The sides also discussed the decision on the early termination of powers of the Verkhovna Rada. According to the press service, “the parties agreed that this is a step meeting the expectations of Ukrainian civil society, as well as a way to strengthen democratic institutions in Ukraine.”
Poroshenko and Merkel also exchanged views on a peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbas ahead of the Minsk meeting in the EU-Ukraine-Eurasian Troika format and coordinated further actions on extending the international dialogue.
