Flight MH17 was shot down by a Buk missile which was brought from Russia to Ukraine, according to the Joint Investigation Team`s findings, NOS reports.
The weapon is fired from a field in the Ukrainian village of Pervomajsk that at the time of the disaster was in the hands of pro-Russian militants. The missile launcher was then brought back to Russia, NOS.nl citing JIT chief Fred Westerbeke as saying during a meeting with relatives of victims of the disaster.
Furthermore, the research team suspects hundred image that were possibly involved in the firing of the missile.
The JIT includes investigators and prosecutors from five countries. The research focuses on the question of who is responsible for the downing of flight MH17.
