On the Armored Forces Day Sunday, September 11, Ukraine`s state-owned defense giant Ukroboronprom presented a model of a new combat model Viy.
The module is a rapid-firing 23-millimeter cannon and will be mounted on Dozor-B reconnaissance armored vehicle.
Previously, Dozor-B was equipped only with machine guns, and the crews complained that they lacked fire power.
The new cannon is yet to be tested and adjustments are to be made if necessary.
“It shoots well. The vehicle is stable on recoil in all plains… This is a prototype. A better sight may be installed… There is also an opportunity to further install two machine guns along with the cannon,” said Andriy Polekhin, the design engineer.
