Militants fire rocket-propelled grenades on Zolote checkpoint

Militants fired grenade launchers on the Zolote entry/exit checkpoint from the town of Pervomaisk in Luhansk region on the evening of August 9, the press service of the State Border Guard Service reported.

The grenades exploded a few meters before the checkpoint, the report said. No one was injured. The border guards did not open fire in response.

The Zolote checkpoint was opened by the controlled territory of Ukraine on March 31, but after a couple of hours it was closed, as representatives of the militants refused to let people cross the demarcation line, a restriction which continues even today.

The area near the checkpoint constantly comes under fire.
