An advance team of employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) that was sent to Luhansk will deal with organizing the shipment of a Russian “humanitarian convoy.”
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Tuesday.
“An advance team of employee of the [International] Committee of the Red Cross has been sent to Luhansk to assess the situation and to organize shipping and delivering humanitarian cargo. The group of three people plans to arrive today to Ukraine from Donetsk in Russia’s Rostov region via Donetsk-Izvaryne checkpoints,” Lysenko said.
He recalled that upon the order of the Ukrainian president, preparatory events had been held to allow humanitarian cargo from Russia to cross the border.
Lysenko also added that as of 09.00 today, the work on processing the humanitarian cargo has not been held due to the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) terrorist organizations not according safety guarantees of the convoy moving with Red Cross representatives.
