The fighting on the liberation of Donetsk and Luhansk is going on in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine.
National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Monday.
“The hostilities are going on to liberate Donetsk and Luhansk, and battles are being conducted near Zhdanivka, Makiyivka, Khartsyzsk, Debaltseve, and Starobesheve. Ukrainian troops are carrying out operational work to neutralize militants in Yasynuvata,” he said.
He said that Horlivka, Mala Ivanivka, Andrianivka and Alchevsk had been completely blocked. Russian mercenaries are fleeing from these towns, he said.
