The anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces have liberated the village of Novosvitlivka, cutting off the last highway connecting Luhansk with the remaining areas currently controlled by Russian mercenaries.
Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) Information and Analysis Center spokesman Andriy Lysenko told this to reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.
“Today the Ukrainian military have liberated from terrorists the village of Novosvitlivka near Krasnodon in Luhansk region and blocked off the last traffic opportunity between the captured Luhansk and other areas that are controlled by Russian mercenaries, particularly with Izvaryne checkpoint on the border with Russia,” Lysenko said.
He said the fighting is underway in the village of Hriashchuvate near Luhansk, where terrorists have built a strong fortified area.
