The United States and the European Union are ready to participate in an international mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Luhansk, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Valeriy Chaly said on the Svoboda Slova talk show on Monday, the president’s press office reported.
“It should be not convoys but a humanitarian aid, which is delivered through controlled by Ukraine border crossings with safety measures, under the coordination of the International Committee of the Red Cross. We have coordinated all activities, agreed positions,” Chaly said.
The official noted that Ukraine is not against Russia’s involvement in the work of the mission.
According to him, representatives of terrorist groups broke two attempts of negotiations of a contact group to provide humanitarian aid for the residents of Luhansk. “We still have a question – would the humanitarian assistance be broken from mortars by terrorists that are there,” he said.
As referred to European integration, Chaly believes that the Verkhovna Rada will ratify the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union in September of this year. “The President of Ukraine has clearly discussed the schedules with the President of the European Commission. Today, there is an understanding – the ratification of the Agreement cannot be postponed, it should happen not until September,” the president’s aide said. He voiced hope that the ratification will be supported by over 300 MPs.
