The 450th day of the Russia-Ukraine War: official operational information by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 19.05.2023.
During the past day, the Russian army carried out 6 missile strikes and 51 airstrikes, conducting over 30 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launch systems. Civilian infrastructure suffered damage. In particular, as a result of the shelling of Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the settlements of Stepnogorsk in Zaporizhzhia region, and Beryslav in the Kherson region, there are casualties and injured civilians, and residential private houses and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed.
The probability of missile and airstrikes throughout the territory of Ukraine remains high.
The Russian army continues to concentrate its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions. Within the day, there were 70 combat clashes in the mentioned areas of the front. The fiercest battles took place in Bakhmut and Marinka.

- On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation remains unchanged, and there are no signs of Russian offensive formations being formed.
- On the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, Russian troops carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Wolfyne, Slavhorod, and Pletenivka in the Sumy region. During the past day, Russian troops conducted mortar and artillery shelling of the settlements of Bleshnia in the Chernihiv region and Malushyne in the Sumy region, as well as Udi, Hatysche, Pletenivka, Pokaliane, Budarky, Zemlianky, and Topoli in the Kharkiv region.
- On the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Biloherivka in the Luhansk region. It carried out airstrikes near Hryhorivka, Vilshana, and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region. Russian artillery and mortar shelling targeted Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Masiutivka, Lyman Pershyi, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Tabaivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.
- On the Lyman direction, the Russian army did not conduct offensive actions during the day. Artillery shelling affected places such as Makiivka, Nevske, Biloherivka in the Luhansk region, and Verkhniokamianske and Spirne in the Donetsk region.
- On the Bakhmut direction, the Russian army continues its offensive actions. Heavy fighting for the city of Bakhmut is ongoing. It also conducted unsuccessful offensive actions towards the settlements of Ivanivske and Bila Hora. Russian soldiers carried out airstrikes in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Stupochky, and Bila Hora. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Predtechyne, Bila Hora, Dyliivka, Druzhba, and Pivnichne in the Donetsk region were affected by Russian shelling.
- On the Avdiivka direction, Russian soldiers conducted offensive actions towards Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske but did not achieve success. During the day, they carried out an airstrike in the area of Avdiivka. They also conducted artillery shelling near Novokalynove, Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Karlivka, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
- On the Mariinka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled numerous Russian attacks in the area of the city of Marinka. Shelling affected Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Mariinka, Kurakhove, and Katerynivka in the Donetsk region.
- On the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian army conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Novomykhailivka. However, it carried out airstrikes in the areas of Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Zolota Niva. Russian troops also shelled the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Bohoyavlenske, Maksymivka, Zolota Niva, and Velyka Novosilka.
- On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian army continues defensive actions. It conducted an airstrike on the settlement of Kizomys. Russian military also shelled several settlements, including Hulyaipole, Novodanilivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove, Kamianske, and Plavni in the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as Zolota Balka, Berislav, Stepanivka, and the city of Kherson.
According to confirmed information, Russian troops have connected the island of Dzharylgach with the occupied mainland part of Kherson region in the area of the settlement of Lazurne by covering the passage to the island with sand. This was done to intensify the use of the nature reserve territory of the national park for military purposes. In particular, they have set up a military training ground on the island.
Russian soldiers continue to suffer significant losses on the battlefield. As a result, the Russian army continues to convert civilian educational institutions on temporarily occupied territories into medical facilities. For example, in the settlement of Holubivka in the Luhansk region, the local school is being converted by Russian troops into a military hospital. Around 50 wounded Russian soldiers have been transported there for treatment.
During the day, the Ukrainian aviation conducted 12 strikes on personnel and military equipment concentration areas, as well as 4 strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.
Throughout the day, Ukrainian troops destroyed 3 Kalibr cruise missiles, 16 Iranian combat UAVs “Shahed,” and 2 Russian reconnaissance UAVs of different types.
The units of missile forces and artillery targeted 1 command post, 6 areas of armament and military equipment concentration, 2 artillery units in firing positions, and 6 Russian electronic warfare stations.
