The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that in the evening on April 21, 2023, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with five “Shahed-136/131” kamikaze drones, four of which were destroyed by the Ukrainian Air Force.

“In the evening on April 21, around 7:00 p.m., Russian military attacked Ukraine from the south-eastern direction with Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones. The forces and means of anti-aircraft defense of the air command Eas” of the Air Force in cooperation with the anti-aircraft defense of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed four of the five Shahed drones,” explained the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
An air alert was announced in several regions in the southeast of Ukraine and explosions were reported in Zaporizhzhia in the evening on April 21, 2023.
US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, commenting on the results of the 11th Ukraine Defense Contact Group emphasized that the greatest need for Ukraine is to provide it with ground-based air defense systems.
