The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan informed on March 31, 2023, that the Japanese government introduced a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which prohibits the export of components for the aviation and space industry, as well as materials and parts that can be used for the production of drones.

“In light of the current international situation surrounding Ukraine, and in order to contribute to international efforts for international peace, Japan will implement a ban on exports to Russia based on the measures that major countries have decided to take,” noted the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The ban will come into force on April 7.
The list of goods prohibited for export to Russia also includes:
- steel and steel products;
- aluminum and its products;
- boilers and machinery, and their parts and accessories;
- electrical equipment and its parts;
- parts of transportation machinery;
- aircraft and spacecraft, and their parts and accessories;
- optical equipment, photographic equipment, measuring equipment, inspection equipment, precision equipment, and their parts and accessories;
- toys, scale models.
Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced that Tokyo would allocate 30 million dollars for Ukraine’s purchase of non-lethal weapons.
