Saudi Arabia’s delegation in Kyiv announced the allocation of $400M in aid to Ukraine

The Office of the President of Ukraine noted on February 26, 2023, that the head of the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud arrived in Kyiv for the first time in history, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discussed with him the necessary actions to bring peace while expressing support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

During a visit, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Saudi Arabia announced the allocation of aid to Ukraine in the amount of 400 million dollars. The package includes: $100 million worth of humanitarian aid and $300 million in petroleum products.

The allocation of aid was formalized by signing the following documents:

  • Joint program of cooperation between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
  • Memorandum of Understanding on the Saudi Grant for Petroleum Products between the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Saudi Fund for Development.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in all key areas, in particular in investment and energy.

The head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak thanked Saudi Arabia for supporting the UN General Assembly resolution on sustainable peace in Ukraine, which was adopted on February 23 in connection with the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“This mission of Saudi Arabia is an extremely important factor in our cooperation. And we have agreed that we will continue to work in this direction,” the Head of the Presidential Office said.
