The European Union announced the allocation of the first tranche in the amount of 3 billion euros to Ukraine within the framework of the macro-financial assistance program of 18 billion euros. The Minister for Finance of Sweden Elisabeth Svantesson announced this on January 17, 2023.

“Today, 3 billion euros is paid out to Ukraine, which makes me very proud, and also shows what we can do when we are united, and we all know that Ukrainians fight also for us,” said the Minister for Finance of Sweden Elisabeth Svantesson.
This announcement was expected, as this date was announced in advance by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
Ukraine’s President thanked for such a decision.
“Ukraine received the 1st €3 billion from the new €18 billion macro-financial program. I’m grateful to the EU & President Ursula von der Leyen for the strong support. Preserving Ukraine’s financial stability is vital for our joint victory over the aggressor,” tweeted Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
