Mary Hakobyan, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine noted on December 9, 2022, that partner states were ready to allocate significant sums to aid in demining of Ukraine.

“The issue of demining Ukraine concerns not only us, but also many of our partners abroad, many of whom are ready to help us. In order to coordinate the efforts of donor organizations and the governments of countries, we organized a donor conference on the basis of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining in Switzerland, where we had the opportunity to inform in detail about what is happening in Ukraine, what are our forecasts regarding demining, what are the challenges and what we are facing,” informed the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
About forty international partners and representatives of countries’ governments took part in the conference.
“With the US delegation, we discussed the development of a mine clearance training centre, and additional financial assistance for equipment for Ukrainian units. The budget has been approved within the framework of 94 million dollars for the next year. As part of this budget, the National Police received 2 demining vehicles, the implementation of this budget will begin in January,” said Mary Hakobyan.
Canada will provide $15 million for the demining of Ukraine.
“We are talking about the purchase of specialized equipment for the emergency services – these are protective suits for pyrotechnicians, the general development of the capabilities of our divisions in this area, including the purchase of demining machines. We are also talking with Canada about increasing the budget and expect a positive result in the near future,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine added.
