Warsaw and Helsinki will continue to provide all necessary assistance to Ukraine to counter Russian aggression. The Prime Ministers of Poland and Finland, Mateusz Morawiecki and Sanna Marin stated this during a joint press conference in Helsinki on November 20, 2022.

As Marin emphasized, Poland did a lot to help Ukraine and refugees fleeing the war. She emphasized that Finland was also working in this direction, in particular by recently deciding to provide military aid in the amount of 55 million euros. The head of the Finnish government added that there “will be more.”
Sana Marin also emphasized that Russia should be brought to justice.
“Russia cannot violate international law with complete impunity and must be held accountable. We must make them pay for the destruction they have caused; the atrocities and crimes Russia is committing cannot go unpunished,” said the Finnish Prime Minister.
In his turn, the Polish Prime Minister noted that the Russian threat must be defeated once and for all, which can only be done together, focusing on key threats and geopolitical challenges. He noted that Poland and Finland, which both border Russia, spoke with a common voice in geopolitical affairs, supporting Ukraine.
According to Mateusz Morawiecki, “the seismic wave of Russian aggression has reached the borders of the European Union.”
“Russia bombarded the critical infrastructure of Ukraine with a large number of missiles, killing two Polish citizens on Novemeber 15, 2022. Russia bears full responsibility for this,” stated the Polish Prime Minister.
Mateusz Morawiecki added that in this context, Poland would not give in to this provocation and will stand side by side with Ukraine.
Mateusz Morawiecki believes that the sanctions introduced against Russia are in effect, but new ones are needed. He also noted that these sanctions affected the economy of the EU countries, but the citizens of the Community countries need to be explained what is behind the rise in inflation and the rise in energy prices.
