Canada froze Russian property and funds worth about $330 million

Royal Canadian Mounted Police noted on November 7, 2022, that more than 412 million Canadian dollars (about 330 million US dollars) were blocked in Canada as part of the implementation of anti-Russian economic sanctions for violating the sovereignty of Ukraine.

“Since February 24, 2022, the RCMP reports that a total approximate CAD equivalent of $121,945,874.53 of assets in Canada have been effectively frozen and a total approximate CAD equivalent of $290,582,385.59 in financial transactions have been blocked as a result of the prohibitions in the SEMA Russia Regulations,” noted law enforcement officers.

The department emphasized that they would receive new information, so they constantly update the data.

The last time such monetary data regarding Canadian anti-Russian sanctions were released in August 2022, and since then the total value of frozen property and funds has increased by only 1 million Canadian dollars, although the list of sanctioned persons has been significantly expanded.
