“540 is the total number of objects of cultural heritage, cultural institutions and religious buildings damaged by Russian strikes in Ukraine during the full-scale war since February 24. Almost 200 destroyed or damaged temples! And perhaps, while I am addressing you now, one of the Russian strikes damaged other cultural or educational objects, as well as other memorials or temples.”

According to the President, more than 2,600 educational facilities in Ukraine were also destroyed as a result of shelling by the Russian army.

“Russian missile hit an intersection in the central part of the city of Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital on October 10. People died –  just burned in cars. And it was 700 meters from the bell tower of Saint Sophia Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The buildings of Shevchenko University, one of the most important universities in Eastern Europe are located at the same intersection. They were affected by this blow. The Institute of Philology is broken. Russia can claim the special title of winner of universities, institutes, academies and schools,” the head of state added.
