President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the US to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. According to the President, with the terrorist attack in Olenivka, Russia fully deserved this status.

Many countries have condemned the killing of Ukrainian war prisoners in colony on occupied territory. However, only condemnation at the level of political rhetoric for this mass murder is not enough, the President believes.
“There must be legal steps on the part of the world community against the terrorist state. Formal legal recognition of Russia as a terrorist state, in particular recognition by the United States State Department, is needed not as a political gesture, but as an effective defense of the free world.”
Russia has chosen terror as its main weapon at this stage of the war, Volodymyr Zelenskyy notes. Recognizing the Russian Federation as a terrorist state will automatically complicate its existence and sever various political and business ties that Russia would otherwise maintain. Ukrainian diplomats and all friends of Ukraine abroad will work to break existing ties.
“This (giving the Russian Federation the appropriate status – ed.) will still have to be done – it’s only a matter of time and the format of the decision. And the sooner it happens, the less evil Russia will have time to do,” he added.
