“I don’t think we should hope that the war will end and we can change something again, interact more amicably again. Russia has broken too many taboos and crossed so many red lines that it is very worthwhile and very right to see it as a long-term threat to the democratic world “, – he noted, adding that many colleagues share the same opinion.
He also noted that he had high expectations from the NATO summit in Madrid on June 29-30.
Earlier, NATO Deputy Secretary-General confirmed that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is invited to the summit in Madrid.
The Lithuanian president’s office later said that in a speech at the meeting, Nauseda called for NATO’s transition from a deterrence strategy to a defense strategy.
Gitanas Nauseda also called for constant and intensified support for Ukraine and called for granting it the status of a candidate for EU membership, as the Ukrainians struggle to prove their commitment to Western values daily.
