German Development Minister called on the G7 to work together to combat the famine that could result from the war in Ukraine.

“The terrible consequences of Russia’s war of aggression go far beyond Ukraine. There is a risk of hunger because Putin is using hunger as a weapon. We must counter this with the help of the new global food security alliance that we want to adopt at his meeting,” she said.
G7 development ministers will discuss current challenges, ranging from the food crisis and climate change to rebuilding a free Ukraine, which is also a major global grain exporter. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal will take part in the meeting via video.
