Ukraine, Azerbaijan may start co-production of anti-tank weapons

Ukraine and Azerbaijan are considering the possibility of establishing a joint production of anti-tank missile systems and guided missiles at the enterprises of the Azerbaijan Republic.

”During the meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Fuad Mamedov, the sides discussed issues of the supply by the Ukrainian enterprises of a specialized equipment for maintenance and repair of armored vehicles, the possibility of upgrading the Shturm-S anti-missile system, and questions regarding the status of implementation of the existing contracts, as well as promising areas of cooperation,” according to the press service of Ukrspetsexport, part of the State Concern Ukroboronprom, referring to the results of the talks between General Director of the state company Pavlo Bukin with the Deputy Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan Tofik Rafiev within the 2nd International Defense Industry Exhibition ADEX-2016 held in Baku on September 27-30.

According to the press service, during the exhibition, the joint stand of Ukroboronprom presented the products of 19 participating enterprises, producers of military equipment. In particular, Ukraine presented the Oplot main battle tank; BTR-3 and BTR-4 and Vityaz APCs, a combat reconnaissance patrol vehicle BRDM-2Di, a Bars-8 tactical armored vehicle and a KrAZ Feona. Full-scale samples and models of aircraft, marine and radar domestic equipment, artillery and firearms, as well as military personal protective equipment have also been presented.
