EU president: Russia requires long-term strategy


The European Union must agree a long term strategy for Russia that
will last for many years, including looking beyond sanctions, the
European Council president has warned on the final day of the summit.
Former Polish prime minister Donald Tusk said yesterday that a
“long-perspective strategy” was needed, and hinted to stronger
sanctions. However, David Cameron indicated that policy could change
if Russia’s policies were altered. “The door is always open if
Russia changes its behaviour,” the Prime Minister said, although
stressed the sanctions will remain for now. The EU agreed new
