Thousands of mourners paid their respects at the funeral of Russian opposition activist Boris Nemtsov, who was gunned down on a bridge near the Kremlin.
Also in Russia, a Moscow court refused to release Ukrainian military officer Nadezhda Savchenko, who has been in Russian custody since last summer and has become a national hero in Ukraine.
