AMSTERDAM â€” TheÂ NetherlandsÂ may have no new government until September, as talks to form a coalition have repeatedly failed, the holiday period is approaching, and some politicians are in no hurry to clinch a deal.
Three months since the election, a deal between Prime Minister Mark Rutteâ€™s VVD and the three parties that increased their vote share the most â€” GreenLeft, the liberal D66 and the Christian Democrats (CDA) â€” has been written off. GreenLeft, an immigration-friendly party which objected to a plan to return migrants to African countries, has been booted out of the mix.
