Estonia’s Virtual “Russian World”

Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine raise difficult questions for Estonia, where nearly one quarter of the population is Russian-speaking. Could Russia’s state media succeed in inciting wide-spread civil disturbances among those Russian-speakers?
Jill Dougherty and Riina Kaljurand spent two months interviewing Russian-speakers throughout Estonia, examining to what extent they “live” in the Russian information space, what their main sources of information are, and how the information they receive influences their attitudes towards Estonia and Russia.
