US Paratroopers to Train Ukraine Army In Mid-April, 2015

From April 20 almost three hundred of US paratroopers will train Ukrainian soldiers. This is a part of US support to Ukraine in the conflict against pro-Russian terrorists in Eastern Ukraine.

On March 30, 2015 Ukrainian interior minister Arsen Avakov confirmed the militant trainings:

“290 US paratroopers will arrive on April 20 at the Yavoriv military zone in the government-controlled western region of Lviv, near the Polish border”, stated Avakov.

900 troops from the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) will be instructed by professional militants from the US 173rd Airborne brigade, based in Italy. Training in the battalions first aid, battlefield tactics and how to defend against being hit by mortar fire and missiles will have three waves, each lasting eight weeks.

The first part of military vehicles from non-lethal aid of US support to Ukraine in the conflict against pro-Russian terrorists was delivered to Ukraine at the end of March.

Besides, on March 23, 2015 the US House of Representatives has approved by 348 votes to 48 the H.Res. 162 Calling on the President to provide Ukraine with military assistance to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
