General Staff operational report August 26, 2022 on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The patriotic Ukrainian people’s resistance to a Russian military invasion is still holding strong on day 184.

The Russian Federation is still concentrating on taking in Ukraine complete control of the Donetsk oblast, retaining the districts of Kherson, seized portions of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, and Mykolaiv oblasts, and regaining the combat readiness of Russian troops that have sustained losses.

In the Volyn, Polissia, and Siversky directions, there have been no notable changes to the situation. In the communities of Seredyna Buda, Shevchenkove, Katerynivka, and Vilne, which are located in the Sumy region, the Russian army shelled both military and civilian infrastructure with barrel artillery.

Russian occupants are still engaged in fighting in the Kharkiv direction in an effort to keep the occupied boundaries in place. In the vicinity of Varvarivka, Udyv, Slatyne, Petrivka, Borshchova, Velyki Prohody, Pischane, Ruski Tyshky, Shestakove, Slobozhanske, Andriyivka, and Husarivka, shelling from tanks, barrel artillery, and rocket artillery was conducted. The Russian army also conducted airstrikes close to Pervomaiske, Bairak, and Mospanove. It carried out illegal airborne surveillance near the communities of Pytomnyk, Cherkaska Lozova, and Shestakove.

Russian soldiers are attempting to restart the attack in the direction of the village of Barvinkove from the direction of Sloviansk. Near Chepil, Brazhkivka, Bohorodychne, and Kostyantynivka, Russian shelling was reported. Nearby Brazhkivka and Zalyman the Russian army provided airstrikes. It conducted offensive combat toward Karnaukhivka but failed, thus it withdrew. Russia conducted illegal aircraft surveillance over the Nova Dmytrivka region.

Russian troops fired with barrel and rocket artillery on the communities of Tetianivka, Ivano-Daryivka, Zvanivka, and Hryhorivka in the direction of Kramatorsk. Their airstrikes were conducted close to Spirne and Siversk.

Near Tetyanivka, illegal airborne reconnaissance was conducted by the Russian Federation.

Russian invaders caused fire damage with tanks, barrel artillery, and MLRS in the vicinity of the communities of Tykhonivka, Vasyukivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, and Shumy in the direction of Bakhmut. Strikes near Ukrainian Yakovlivka and Kodema were conducted by Russia using aircraft.

The Russian occupation forces attempted to launch assaults against the Ukrainian communities of Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, and Kodema but were unsuccessful.

The Russian soldiers shelled the neighbourhoods of Alexandropil, New York (Donetsk region, Ukraine), Novobakhmutivka, Netailovy, Halytsynivka, Nevelske, Opytne, and Mariyinka in the direction of Avdiyivka. Russian airstrikes were reported close to Maryinka, Krasnohorivka, and Pervomaiskyi.

In the direction of Novopavlivsk, Russian artillery bombardment was recorded close to Zolota Nyva, Prechystivka, Pavlivka, and Volodymyrivka in Ukraine. Russian aircraft struck the neighbourhoods of Volodymyrivka and Novomykhaylivka.

The territories of the Ukrainian towns of Velikomyhaylivka, Novosilka, Vremivka, Malynivka, Dorozhnyanka, Poltavka, Orihiv, and Mala Tokmachka were bombarded by the Russian Federation in the direction of Zaporizhzhia.

The Russian army kept firing shells in the direction of the Southern Buh, bombarding Mykolaiv, Kryvyi Rih, Lupareve, Prybuzke, Posad-Pokrovske, Novohryhorivka, Partyzanske, Chervona Dolyna, Velyke Artakove, Kvitneve, Ivanivka, Potemkine, Trudolyubivka, Blahodatne, Tavriyske. Important infrastructural facilities in the Oleksandrivka, Lozove, and Olhyne settlement areas were targeted by Russian airstrikes.

Ukrainian soldiers continue to defeat the Russian occupiers in close quarters fighting while effectively completing missile and artillery fire operations in the targeted directions.
