Operational report August 20, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Operational data for the 178th day of the Russian-Ukrainian War (20.08.2022).

In the directions of Volyn, Polissia, and Siverskyi without changes. The Russian army used barrel artillery to bombard the civic and military facilities in the Sumy oblast towns of Bilopillia and Krasnopillia in Ukraine. Unmanned aerial vehicles were used by the Russian Federation to conduct illegal airborne surveillance.

The Russian troops are conducting combat operations in the Slobozhanskyi direction with the intention of retaining the captured territories and blocking a counteroffensive by the UkrainianDefense Forces, and in certain locations are attempting to strengthen the tactical situation.

Russian invaders attacked the regions around the settlements of Chuhuiv, Zolochiv, Pytomnyk, Husarivka, Sosnivka, Ruski Tyshky, Korobochkyne, Shestakove, Duvanka, and Prudianka in the Kharkiv direction, Ukraine, with barrel and rocket artillery. Russia actively carried out illegal aerial surveillance using drones.

Airstrikes were conducted by Russian units close to Lebiazhe and Zalyman. In the Borshchova area, they launched offensive fights but lost and fled.

Russian tank, barrel artillery, and several rocket launchers were reported shelling in the direction of Sloviansk, close to Dovhenke, Sulyhivka, and Mazanivka in Ukraine.

Russian forces attempted to launch attacks near Novodmytrivka, Virnopillia, and Kurulka but were repelled and forced to retire.
Near Rozdolivka, Sydorove, Spirne, and Pryshyb, the Russian occupiers fired from barrel and rocket artillery in the direction of Kramatorsk. They conducted aircraft surveillance over the scene of the conflict. The Russian Federation is attempting to launch an attack close to Ivano-Daryivka, and fighting is still going on.

The fire caused by Russian attacks destroyed the civil infrastructure in the communities of Zaitseve, Bakhmutske, Vesele, Bakhmut, Andriyivka, Kodema, and Maiorsk in the direction of Bakhmut.

The hostilities are still going on despite the Russian invaders’ unsuccessful attempts to launch offensive and assault operations near the communities of Bakhmut, Zaitseve, and Kodema.

Tanks, barrel artillery, and rocket artillery were employed by the Russian invaders in the Avdiyivka region at Novobakhmutivka, Nevelske, Neskuchne, Alexandropil, Keramik, Kermenchyk, and Pisky.

Near Mariyinka, Russian planes were active. In the designated direction, the adversary used drones to perform illegal aerial reconnaissance over the areas of combat. Russian attacks near Opytne and Maiorsk were unsuccessful, and fighting is still going on.

Russian shelling was seen in the vicinity of Volodymyrivka, Vuhledar, and Prechystivka in the Novopavlivske direction, Ukraine.

The Russian army shelled the communities of Bilohiria, Novodanylivka, Novopil, Chervone, Vremivka, Charivne, and Olhivske in the direction of Zaporizhia using artillery and tanks.

Russia is primarily working to halt Ukrainian Defence forces’ progress in the direction of South Buh. The Russian occupants are taking action to make up for the equipment and personnel losses. In the vicinity of the Ukrainian communities of Prybuzke, Luch, Tavriyske, Novohryhorivka, Olenivka, Novoselivka, Blahodatne, Veselyi Kut, Shyroke, Yakovlivka, Bila Krynytsya, and Otradne, Russian invaders shelled both military and civilian infrastructure. Unmanned aerial vehicles are still actively engaged by Russia in doing illegal aerial reconnaissance in Ukraine.

The demoralization of the Russian Federation’s personnel is a result of repeated delays in their rotation dates and lies about rewards that were promised. As a result, it is reported that the Russian occupants decide not to take part in combat more often.
