Operational report August 13, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The operational update about the invasion of Ukraine by Russia on August 13, 2022, at 6:00am. The brave Ukrainian people’s resistance to a Russian military invasion is still going strong after 171 days.

The Russian Federation is focusing its efforts on seizing full control of the Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts’ territories in Ukraine, maintaining the temporarily captured territory in the Kherson oblast and portions of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, and Mykolaiv oblasts, creating favorable conditions for resuming the offensive in some directions, and obstructing Ukraine’s maritime communications in the Black Sea.

The directions in Volyn, Polissia, and Siverskyi have not reported any significant alterations. The area around Basivka and Kindrativka in the Sumy oblast and Senkivka and Hremyach in the Chernihiv region was attecked by the Russian army with barrel artillery.

Shelling by Russian troops was observed close to Dolyna, Brazhkivka, Nortsivka, Dibrivne, Mazanivka, and Bohorodychne in the direction of Slovyansk. Once more, Russian aircraft flew close to Zalyman.

Russian soldiers used jet and barrel artillery to bombard the Kramatorsk, Verkhnyokamyansk, and Hryhorivka neighborhoods.

The Russian occupation forces attempted to move forward in the directions of the Lysychansk Oil Refinery – Ivano-Daryivka and Mykolayivka – Vyimka by engaging in offensive and assault activities. The battle is still going on in the direction of Spirne-Ivano-Daryivka.

Russian soldiers launched artillery and tanks in the direction of Bakhmut, striking the towns of Chasiv Yar, Berestove, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Pereizne, Soledar, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Yakovlivka, Vershyna, and Zaytseve. Near Yakovlivka, Vesela Dolyna, Zaitseve, Bakhmut, and Soledar, Russian airstrikes were detected. Attacks by the Russian Federation were made in the directions of Pokrovske – Bakhmut, Vidrodzhenya – Vershyna, and Vuglehirska power station – Zaitseve, but they failed and withdrew.

The Russian occupying forces fired with barrel and rocket artillery in the direction of Avdiyivka in the communities of Kurakhove, New York (Donetsk region), Nevelske, Pervomaiske, Opytne, Mariyinka, Vodiane, Krasnohorivka, and Novobakhmutivka. Russian air assaults struck close to Mariyinka.

The Russian invaders fought offensive engagements in the direction of Spartak-Avdiyivka and Novoselivka Druha-Krasnohorivka, but they were unsuccessful and driven back. Fighting is still going on in the Novoselyvka-Olexandropil and Donetsk-Pisky directions.

The Russian Federation bombarded positions in the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Pavlivka, Prechistivka, Vuhledar, Bohoiavlenka, Novopillia, Zaliznychne, Hulyaypilske, Olhivske, Shevchenko, Burlatske, Novosilka, Drozhnianka, and Novodanylivka on the Novopavlivske and Zaporizhia territories. Russia conducted an airstrike in the vicinity of Novosilka in Ukraine.

Ukrainian Defence Forces effectively halted the enemy onslaught and drove the Russian invaders back in the direction of Storozhove-Novosilka.

The Russian army fired tanks and artillery in the districts of Posad-Pokrovske, Stepova Dolyna, and an additional 27 localities in the direction of South Buh, Ukraine.

Russian soldiers made an offensive fighting attempt in the direction of Sukhy Stavok-Lozove but failed and turned back.

Russian airstrikes were conducted close to Osokorivka and Andriyivka.

Russia kept illegally using unmanned aerial vehicles to perform aerial surveillance.

In the Black and Azov Seas, 2 sea-based cruise missile carriers of the Russian Federation are prepared to attack.

The possibility of Russian missile attacks on key infrastructure and military targets on Ukrainian soil is still present.
