Zguladze vows to double salaries of police officers

The salaries of police officers will grow significantly after the introduction of European standards.
First Deputy Interior Minister Eka Zguladze said this at a briefing on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“We will increase wages, and we will increase them significantly, by at least two times,” Zguladze said.
She said that she had announced this on the basis of the calculations already made.
“There are calculations, so we can guarantee an increase in salaries,” she said.
However, Zguladze acknowledged that the number of police officers was to be reduced during the reform process.
“We will lose a certain number of employees, but we will hire the new ones, using new methods, on a competitive basis,” Zguladze said.
