Yatseniuk urges local authorities to adopt budgets as soon as possible

Local budgets of various levels for 2015 should be adopted as soon as possible.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this during a telephone conference with the heads of regional state administrations on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“I ask all Ukrainian regions to accelerate the process and immediately adopt their own budgets,” Yatseniuk said, adding that Kiev region had already done it.
He recalled that the government accomplished the first step towards the provision of additional financial powers for the regions. “We have adopted a new version of the Budget Code. The regions can independently manage their own budgets from now on, considering the fact that the regions have the right to independently adopt their local budgets not waiting for the government’s decision or the decision made by the Verkhovna Rada on the adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On State Budget” and without adoption of the central budget,” Yatseniuk said.
